Our Kids-Play centers are STEP UP TO QUALITY two-star rated!
Step Up To Quality is a voluntary, quality rating system for early care and education programs in Ohio. Step Up To Quality means
Fewer children per classroom
     Smaller group sizes
     More trained teachers
A better early education experience for your child

What Does This Mean For You and Your Child?

As a Step Up To Quality Two Star Rated Program, Kids-Play provides your child or children with:

Lower group size in the infant room for birth to 12 month olds; lower ratios in the preschool and school age classrooms.
This means our teachers have more time to support your child’s individual development and learning. This is a critical factor as we know that 85% of brain development occurs by the time your child is 3 years old and the number of words your child knows when they enter kindergarten is the single most important predictor of school success.
The administrator and at least 50% of teachers have a credential and/or a degree in early childhood education.
This means that the administrator and teacher(s) have formal knowledge to support your child's development and learning. This is important because just like a doctor needs formal education and specialized training, so do the individuals working with young children. Working with young children is a science - brain science.
The administrator, all lead teachers, and assistant teachers complete 10 hours of specialized training annually.
This means that the administrator and teaching staff are committed to expanding their knowledge and skills to better support your child's development and learning. This ensures that early care and education professionals keep up-to-date with the ever-changing knowledge base of our profession.
Provides annual performance evaluations, professional development planning and at least two benefits (such as insurance, paid leave, tuition reimbursement etc.) to employees.
This means that the program is a place where employees are supported and treated professionally. This is important because the best programs retain the best teachers.
Teachers conduct a developmental screening upon entry and utilize Ohio's Infant Toddler Guidelines, Ohio's Early Learning Content Standards and K-12 Standards in their curriculum planning.
This means that your child's program uses research-based information when planning your child's day. This is important because it means teachers are intentional in planning their teaching strategies in order to support your child's development and learning.
Step Up To Quality programs are only eligible for a Star Rating if they have not had any serious risk licensing non-compliances at their last licensing visit. If this program were to have a serious risk noncompliance, their rating would be either suspended or removed based on the non-compliance

Our Kids-Play Centers are NAEYC Accredited!

Our Stow and Akron locations are proud to have received NAEYC Accreditation.

Since 1985, The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has offered a national, voluntary accreditation system to set professional standards for early childhood education programs, and to help families identify high-quality programs. Today, NAEYC Accreditation represents the mark of quality in early childhood education. Over 8,000 child care programs, preschools, early learning centers, and other center- or school-based early childhood education programs are currently NAEYC-Accredited.

Families rely on NAEYC Accreditation to ensure the quality of education and care provided in programs for young children. NAEYC Accreditation is the mark of quality, helping parents find the best possible early childhood experience.

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) can help parents feel good about the child care, preschool, and kindergarten programs they choose. More than 20 years ago, NAEYC created an accreditation system to improve the quality of education and care provided in programs for young children. NAEYC Accreditation has become the mark of quality, helping parents find the best possible early childhood experience.

"I think one of the greatest advances to child care was the creation of the NAEYC Accreditation system, which has helped so much to raise the quality of programs."
